The second wave of beloved Purple blossoms is so welcome, we forget our sadness to see the others fade!  Intriguing Iris, which come in an entire rainbow of hues, but whose purples and graceful form are classic, lead the Columbines with similar traits but a more exotic, dragon-like silhouette.  Then Lilacs and Lavender follow each other with simpler forms producing siren-call aromas.   The buzzing, fluttering, hopping, crawling creatures still abound amidst the rich foliage.

This Potholder is large enough to serve well also as a trivet, protecting first your hands, then your table:  it measures 9" wide by 8" tall, with a loop for hanging.  Two layers of repurposed blue jean are sandwiched between hand-woven Lavender Fields motif by Greentree Weaving and deep grape-colored corduroy. The embroidery is done free-hand on my straight stitch sewing machine.
