From the mid-1800's, woven in the center of France (likely St. Etiènne, textile capital of the times), this is a factory sample. Colors for various parts of this Jacquard weave were being tested for effedt, noted on hand-written cards attached to some. Wool is the fiber used. The background is a silk damask floor sample of wall covering by a renowned German house, Rasch, of Trianon Style (named after a pavillion at the Versailles palace). The vintage hand-tatted lace is also of French provenance, and stitched to the red tapestry sample by and then to the damask backing. All of these elements are sourced by Maison Bleu Lin, assmbled by me. The thrifted frame is the coordinating final touch.
The total measurements are 8" wide x 10". Signed by me, with provenance.
