There's a moment in the summer when the lavender is in full bloom, buzzing with happy pollinators, wafting its heavenly aroma heedlessly here and there at whim.  For a peaceful, meditative break, I gather a counted number of the longest stalks and sit down in the shade with spools of ribbon to weave these miniature baskets, blossom ends turned in.  Extra leaves stripped from the stalk and stray buds get tucked back in.  (This pretty much needs to be done immediately, as the stems dry out quickly, here in Colorado, becomming brittle. The size  of these wands is determined by the lavender variety I have growing at the moment.  These 3 are the only ones I have this season).
    These will gently diffuse this sweet scent for at least a full year, to elegantly ornament while adding subtle atmosphere to a room or drawer.
