This Table Runner, embroidered with my straight stitch industrial sewing machine on gorgeous Canyon Dusk motif handwoven cotton by Greentree Weaving, tells a story. First told by Betsy Chutchian, fabric designer, who created the pattern of the lining used on this piece, she named this Mother's Shawl, in the 1850-1880 collection, with the added "Nancy's Needle" tag, honoring her great great great grandmother. Having a few GTW shawls myself, I know how versatile and indispensible this piece of fabric can be, as with a beloved apron: useful everywhere, at every stage in life. So, from swaddling a child to shading them, from wedding day to granny days, from shoulders to picnic blanket, this is my ode, my retelling, of Betsy C.'s beautiful story in my own stitches... I reattached the selvage label to honor this legacy.
Measurements are 10" wide x 54".

As the material is 100% preshrunk cotton, laundering is easy, should it become necessary. Make sure every pocket is empty, of course. Turn inside out. Tie the strap into a large knot to minimize tangling. Wash warm and line or tumble dry gentle.
