This Purse is the first of its kind: it combine all of the pocket and purse techniques I have developed with the "Pillow Art" which has been evolving at my sewing machine.
The purse is designed around the "Pillow Art" I have imagined for it. Nearly all of the interior features need to be built and assmbled before I can apply the textural elements of the branch, leaves, etc., and the machine embroidery. The silk hummingbird is an example of my combination cloth origami and soft sculpture. Once these elements are complete, I do final assembly of front, center divider, and back.
The practical features of this purse begin with a vintage, XL carved wooden button in the shape of a blossom -so perfect for the hummingbird. Inside there is a full sized xl zippered divider with 3 snapped interior pockets, 7 exterior pockets, and a button and loop closure to hold a tablet or iPad securely. The second zipper divider with 3 interior pockets, one of which has a snap, and 4 exterior pockets. These pockets and compartments are made variously of the primary, shiny dot lining, the secondary tiny floral lining, and actual corduroy pockets from the thrifted slacks which also provide the strap.
The exterior features include a wide, 58" long strap and a "backpack loop" with a key carabiner which allows for the conversion of this purse into a backpack! The Final Touch of Fancy is a fun, 4" Fringe.
This incredible purse measures 15 1/2" wide" x 11" tall.

As the material is 100% preshrunk cotton, laundering is easy, should it become necessary. Make sure every pocket is empty, of course. Turn inside out. Tie the strap into a large knot to minimize tangling. Wash warm and line or tumble dry gentle.
