A Purse which is also Soft Sculpture Art:  it combines all of the pocket and purse techniques I have developed with the "Pillow Art" which has been evolving at my sewing machine.  
   The purse is designed around the "Pillow Art" I have imagined for it.  Nearly all of the interior features need to be built and assmbled before I can apply the textural elements of the Dragonfly and Pussywillows.  Gray Agate motif handwoven by Greentree Weaving is the base for this composition.  The blue silk dragonflywith golden wings is built of two different silk fabrics, both woven with different weft and warp yarns which gives them a color-shifting shimmer.  It is an example of my combination cloth origami and soft sculpture.  The pussywillow pod is built of chocolate brown corduroy, padded and 3 dimensional.  Its stem is coffee-colored linen.  The leaves are New Leaf motif handwoven, also by Greentree Weaving.  Once these elements are complete, I do the final assembly of front, center divider, and back.
   The practical features of this purse begin with a vintage, XL carved silvery shell button in the shape of a blossom. Inside, there is a full-size zippered divider with two larger pockets and a small, discreet snap pocket in it.  ther are four addditional pockets in the two spaces the divider creates. The primary gray dragonfly motif lining is highlighted by a secondary black and gold dragonfly print and by pockets made of the same corduroy as the strap.
   The exterior features include a pair of generous exterior pockets on the back made of the front pocket of the corduroy slacks repurposed for this project, and a 55" long strap with a "backpack loop" and a key carabiner which allows for the conversion of this purse into a backpack!  
     This incredible purse measures 10" wide" x 11 1/2" tall.
